8.7/10 stinky bananas
Very good movie. Brie Larson turns in an outstanding performance as a captive sex slave. Jacob Tremblay, based on this performance alone, is one of the more promising child actors of recent memory.
The director does a great job of making the viewer feel the stress and anxiety Brie's character was experiencing. The tension between Brie and Jacob as the story progresses is palpable. The development and execution of the escape from captivity was quite the experience. It felt as though the plan could go to shit at any moment, but the kid clutched up.
The only qualm I have with Room is that the post-escape part of the movie was a little lacklustre. They also wasted William H. Macy, which is a criminal offence in my book.
