7.7/10 stinky bananas
Surprisingly fun movie. It has a bit of everything - some laughs, some action, and some heart.
The directors use the cast perfectly. Chris Pine is his usual charming self. Michelle Rodriguez barely talks, but then kicks ass in the action scenes. Hugh Grant is great as the wise-cracking antagonist. The directors molded the characters to the strengths of the actors and actresses in the movie.
The Bradley Cooper cameo blew me away. What the hell is he doing in this movie? It completely caught me off guard. Someone must've phoned in a big time favour to get him in a Dungeons & Dragons movie.
The "Hulga is the kid's true mom" montage got me. I cried a little. I'm not afraid to admit it. Chris Pine's entire motive in the movie is to try and save his kid's mom, but he didn't realize Hulga was her real mom all along. If that doesn't bring a tear to your eye then you have a cold cold heart.
The biggest problem with Dungeons & Dragons: The Movie is the villain. The red witch is a nothing character. She did not move the needle for me at all. Then there was that guy in the shadows talking to her; I still don't know what the hell that was all about.
Anyway, if you like fun, you should watch this movie. Bye.
